The ABCC is generously supported by both Acton and Boxborough town funds which are designated on an annual basis for Council-originated programming. The ABCC uses these local funds to produce exciting events and programs which benefit the Acton and Boxborough communities.

Sculpture Naming Ceremony - June 1, 2014 - NARA Park

Heron's Dread

This sculpture at NARA park was selected and purchased by the ABCC.  The artist is Carolyn Wirth and fabricator Joyce Audy Zarins.   The sculpture was dedicated June 1, 2014 at Nara Park. It was named Heron's Dream.  This name was, suggested by Calvin Miller.

The Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council Presents Our World Foreign Film Evenings
The 2010 Our World foreign film series consisted  of four movies from four different countries. There was no admission charge. All films were suitable for teens and adults.
  • Thursday April 29th at ABRHS - Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi, Israel; Hebrew with English Sub-Titles).
  • Thursday May 6th at ABRHS - When Did You Last See Your Father?, (British).
  • Thursday May 20th at the Sargent Memorial Library, Boxborough - Ahlaam, Iraq ; Arabic with English Sub-Titles).
  • Thursday May 27th at the Sargent Memorial Library, Boxborough - Departures, (Japanese with English Subtitles), an Oscar winner in the Best Foreign Film Category.

Grantee Reception - April 9, 2010 - Sargent Memorial Library, Boxborough
The ABCC celebrated the 2010 grantee receception on April 9th 2010. The event was well attended and was a huge success. 

The event included performances, displays, refreshments, and  was an opportunity for networking among local artists, organizations and community leaders.We also celebrated our local winner of the 2010 Massachusetts Cultural Council's Gold Star Award, the project "Re-Visioning Acton" completed by Ann Sussman of Acton in collaboration with several local and regional partners.

ABCC's OUR WORLD International Film Festival - March - May 2009 

OUR WORLD International Film Festival was presented on the selected Thursday evenings through May 15, 2009 with the following international films: 
      Brazil  Central Station / R (March 26)
      China Raise the Red Lantern / PG (April 2)
      Russia Ballad of a Soldier / Unrated (April 16)
      India  Om Shanti Om / PG-13 (May 7)
     Short Film Festival  (May 15)
All films were presented at the Sargent Memorial Library,  Boxborough 

The Storyteller's Tent at Fifer's Day - June 17, 2009 - Flerra Field, Boxborough
The ABCC sponsored a new Storyteller's Tent at the annual Fifer's Day fair in Boxborough. This event, run by the Boxborough Minutemen, honors Boxborough fifer Luther Blanchard who marched at the Concord bridge at the start of the American Revolution. In keeping with the theme of Fifer's Day, the ABCC sponsored two costumed storytellers Merrill Kohlhofer and Andrea Lovett, who brought to life original tales from the American Revolution. The Storyteller's Tent welcomed children and adults of all ages. Click here to see news clipping from this event. 


Arts Alive! - May 13, 

The ABCC collaborated with the Arts Process Network to present an interactive, arts-education event for adults. The theme of the event was the relationship of people to their towns, and centered around a mural created by participants depicting feelings about the towns where we live, work and play. Panelists from the Arts Process Network discussed ways that arts and arts processes can be used to gather data in all aspects of life and our communities. Click here to see news clipping from this event. 


Verdi's La Traviata at St. Matthew's Hall

This concert, held at Acton's St. Matthew's Fellowship Hall, was a sell-out with about 125 people. The concert drew people from Acton, Boxborough and many neighboring towns, along with the troupe's season ticket holders. Emily Dickinson RockNannette Perrotte Combo May 29, 2005 - Sargent Memorial Library, Boxborough

The ABCC used our Boxborough grant funds to produce this show in honor of the library's opening. This original rock composition brought the enigmatic poetry of Emily Dickinson to life. The new Boxborough library requested ABCC's help in obtaining and funding music for this opening event.
